Quilts are miraculous portals through time, place and memory.
Cloth assemblies built to carry our past into the future.
Slow motion graffitis of color, symbol and texture.
I midwife my work into existence, stitching and designing for inclusion. I want to see the years, the collective wisdom and common ground held by once disconnected pieces. That’s my idea of perfection.
I develop series and community projects exploring universal themes to hold space for individual expressions in shared geometries: an invitation to thought, imagination and action.
These include SiGNS of LiFE, BEYOND RED WHiTE and BLUE, and The HEXAGON PROJECT.
My quilts are never square but are built like trees growing with the wind and seasons of experience; not manicured, but molded by the elements of every day over extended time, unfolding and becoming new pieces of history as they are collected and appreciated.
Collect. Assemble. Repeat. Our quilts. Our stories. For now and future generations.
